Today, the organization formerly known as endeavOR New Mexico is proud to announce a comprehensive rebranding and strategic evolution, officially becoming the New Mexico Outdoor Recreation Business Alliance (NMORBA), and introduction of Tavis Malcolm as its executive director.

This change signifies more than a name change; it marks the birth of a reinvented organization. While the mission to champion New Mexico’s $3.6 billion outdoor economy remains, NMORBA brings a sharpened emphasis on delivering tangible, high-impact resources directly to the business owners who are the lifeblood of the Land of Enchantment.

To celebrate the relaunch of the Alliance, NMORBA is officially announcing its first major member initiative: the Meta Marketing Microgrant.

Designed to provide immediate "fuel" for small business growth, the program awards $250 grants to active NMORBA members to be used for advertising on websites like Facebook and Instagram.

The program underscores NMORBA's commitment to ensuring that being a part of the organization provides a clear, measurable return on investment, with most members paying only $99/year.

“This is a newly reinvented organization with a singular emphasis on supporting and giving back to the outdoor recreation community,” said Tavis Malcolm, Executive Director of NMORBA. “The Meta Marketing Microgrant is just the first step in building NMORBA into an alliance that gives back more to its members than it takes.”

The transition to NMORBA comes at a time of high momentum. The organization has already been active behind the scenes, engaging in high-impact work to support its member businesses, including:

  • Policy Advocacy: Supporting initiatives like the Gross Receipts Tax (GRT) holiday for outdoor goods in the last legislative session and actively preparing for the 2027 session with a dedicated committee focused on legislative priorities for outdoor recreation businesses.

  • Industry Connection: Arranging informative, expert-led panels at events like Adventure Pitch Fest to connect entrepreneurs with key resources already available to them.

Tavis Malcolm comes to the organization as the founder of Morrison Outdoors, an Albuquerque-based sleeping bag manufacturer. Having founded his business in his garage, Tavis is passionate about supporting New Mexico's outdoor recreation small business community and finding ways to make their businesses more profitable.

Looking forward, NMORBA is exploring solutions to member-reported challenges such as spiking insurance rates and an outdated regulatory environment for tour operators. They are also developing additional programs like the Meta Marketing Microgrant specifically to support their member businesses cashflow.
